A Sweet Run & Walk

Thank you for joining us for the inaugural Bust a Crust! Pie-K 5K Run/Walk helping
Meals on Wheels feed more than 10,000 local seniors!

We were excited to have more than 250 participants in the inaugural Bust a Crust! Pie-K 5K Run/Walk. With all of the volunteers and family members at the event, we had more than 400 for a great morning at Spring Grove Cemetery & Arboretum. Please be sure to check back with us for details on the 2022 Bust a Crust! Pie-K 5K Run/Walk.

The Pie-K was the official kick-off for Bust a Crust!, our signature fundraiser in which we sell Thanksgiving pies to help keep local seniors fed and living safely at home.

See more photos from the day on our Facebook page!

Even though race day is over, you can still make an impact in the lives of the 10,000 seniors we serve!
More ways to make an impact:
  • Sign-up to get on our pie-ority list and get updates when they become available!
  • Volunteer for Bust a Crust! or in another way to help move our mission.
  • Make a personal gift online to Meals on Wheels in honor of a senior you love.
  • Use social media to share pictures of your favorite senior and remind friends to get involved with #bustacrust or #muchmorethanameal.
Say yes to pie and make a purchase while doing good for Bust a Crust! Pie sales open on October 15 and go through November 15 at www.bustacrust.org.

This Pie-K 5K is a timed race for runners and walkers. It's family friendly and open to all! (Sorry, but no dogs are permitted.) The beautiful Spring Grove route is paved and accessible for all ages, strollers and wagons.

All participants will receive a race T-shirt and commemorative medal.  Trophies will be awarded to the overall top three male and female runners and walkers.  Medals will be awarded to first place male and female finishers in each age group: 6-12, 12-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 -79 and 80+ determined by chip time.

Free parking is provided at Spring Grove Cemetery & Arboretum adjacent to the race start/finish.

This race was previously known as the Cincinnati Area Senior Services Run for the Generations 5K.

We hope you'll stay after the Pie-K for festivities, including the awards ceremony, pie (of course!) and other treats,  beverages and music by DJ Brandon Scott Perry of Sound for Days! We'll share more details in the coming months leading up to the Pie-K.

When you register online, you can  click on the donate button to make an additional gift or to honor a senior with a donation in their name! Senior honorees will be recognized in signage along the race route. Participants can also write a senior’s names on their race bibs. The race provides an opportunity for people to remember seniors they love in a way that brings together community and promotes health and well-being.

Pre-orders will be taken at the Pie-K. (Everyone else will have to wait until online ordering begins on October 15.) Pie pick up and delivery occur prior to Thanksgiving. Check out bustacrust.org for more details!
